    European Religion is being ridicule:

"What surprised and delighted him most of all was the Palace of Science, where he saw a gallery two thousand paces long filled with instruments of mathematics and physics."(70)

This is being made fun of because religious people believe that the Earth is created by God and not by science. So this is being made fun of because there is a "Palace of Science" in a place where people believe in god and it's religion.

The time period of ELdorado is very happy and peaceful.Everyone enjoy their life living in that place. They all shared the happiness and their ideas. The place convered with all kind of precious stones. It is the land where all the people wish to find and created.

The thing this chapter is being ridicule is the social system.

"The custom is to embrace the king and kiss him on both cheecks"(68)

This is ridicious because the king is known as the most powerful leader. People usally bow to their kings to regonized his power. But the people hug their king and kiss him in Eldorado, which shows a disrespect to their king because people usally do that with the same social classes or their friends and relatives. Therefore they are making fun of the socia system in this chapter.

    Satire: Richness
In the chapter, Voltaire is satirizing the idea of being rich. Some people, such as the natives, don't care about the gold and think it is normal, while others, such as Candide and Cacambo, want and adore the gold and richness in the country.

-"The house they entered was a very simple one, one for its door was made only of silver, and the rooms were paneled only with gold.." (66, Understatement)

-"The antechamber was incrusted only with rubies and emeralds, but the order in which everything was arranged made up for this extreme simplicity." (66, Understatement)

-"The king laughed and said, 'I can't understand why you people from Europe are so fond of our yellow mud..." (71, Irony, Warped Logic, Ridiculous Names)

-English courtier Sir Walter Raleigh made two trips to Guiana to search for El Dorado. During his second trip in 1617, he sent his son, Watt Raleigh, with an expedition up the Orinoco River. The expedition was a disaster, and Watt Raleigh was killed in a battle with Spaniards.
